Vainglory Replay Guide
The replay feature allows you to rewatch the match you just played with free camera and slow motion. The replay button is found on the end-game scoreboard. It was introduced back in November 2016 with the 1.24 patch.
Although you can record the replay footage, it is slow and the video file can be large. A better way is to save the replay which is only a few megabytes and contains all the data of your gameplay. With replay, you can see the game from the perspective of any player in a match.
How to save a replay
We will use vaingloryreplay, a Windows software made by PopcornOne to save the replay. There are README files that explain how to use the software including saving, watching, and even streaming a game from the replay feature as you play.
We will guide you through the steps to save a replay on Android and PC in the following sections. These instructions were from Everlasting Night. The replay files have names that look like this:

Android
- Start a match and finish it.
- When you are at the match result screen, open your file manager app and go to
/Android/data/com.superevilmegacorp.game/cache
.- Note: If you are on Android 11, you may need to connect your device to your PC to access the folder since apps are not allowed to show content in the
/Android/data
folder.

- Copy the replay files in the
cache
folder to a different location.- Note: The files in

will be deleted once you play another match or exit replay.

- When you are at the match result screen, open File Explorer and go to
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp

is a hidden folder. Enable hidden items in the “View” menu if you can’t find it.

How to share a replay
Just package the replay files in a .zip
or .7z
archive and send it to anyone you want. We welcome sharing them in the Gallery channel on our Discord. Remember to include a screenshot of your match result showing the builds to give some context.
How to watch a replay
Windows (PC)
Steps 1 to 5 are only for the initial setup. They have to be done once.
- Download and extract vaingloryreplay.
- Move the
vaingloryreplay
folder to a location of your choice and remember it. - Open the Windows Start Menu and search for “environment variables”.
- Open the first result and go to the “Advanced” tab. Click “Environment Variables…” at the bottom.
- In “System Variables” find the “Path” variable. Click “New” and enter the location of your
vaingloryreplay
folder.- Example: If
vaingloryreplay
is in your Downloads folder, you will enterC:\Users\<username>\Downloads\vaingloryreplay
.
- Example: If
- Go to
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp
and create a new foldervainglory-replays
. Put the replay files of the match you want to watch inside this folder. - Open Vainglory and start a practice match. Surrender immediately and stay in the match result screen.
- Open Command Prompt. Type the following and hit enter:
cd C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp && vgrplay
- Wait for a few seconds then click the replay button in Vainglory. You will now see the match you wanted to replay.
